  • Abstract: This work aims to evaluate the effect of the fluoride ion on the properties of the carbon xerogel/Nb2O5 synthesized via evaporative drying. The material produced in the presence of fluoride ions(not filtered) was composed of NbO1.95F1.05 and Nb2O5 crystalline phases, whereas the filtered material was mainly composed of Nb2O5. Morphology-wise, the filtered material presented a much more regular particle formation, with rod-shaped particles. Regarding optical properties and particle size, the materials displayed similar properties.
